The Startup Success
An entrepreneur had a patented product designed to make the lives of landscaping contractors better, and was prepared to advertise his idea with the hope that the masses would come calling. The Intelligence Agency conducted foundational (and affordable) research that pointed in a different direction: PR, direct mail and regional trade shows would be more effective (and affordable) than paid advertising. The agency also found that prospective customers would not purchase the product without seeing it in action via a demonstration DVD. The agency helped the client re-tool the sales and marketing plan with a thrust toward PR, direct mail, tradeshows and development of an interactive CD-ROM, the combination of which caused sales to exceed the client's expectations – to the point of a 100 percent sale of all existing inventory!
